Proposal videos: They have always been a thing, but lately all I hear about are proposals. I don’t know if it’s because I’m a little further into being twenty-something or if it is because dating sites and dating apps are currently bombarding my life. Scratch that. Bombarding almost every twenty-something’s life. The pressure to find someone to spend the rest of your life with is definitely eminent. The main questions you get at family functions as a senior in college are as follows: Do you know what you are going to do when you graduate? And, do you currently have significant other?
However, I have noticed that every time I walk around Library West these days I see at least one person watching the 27-minute proposal, Justin and Emily: The Proposal. The video, in my opinion, was well worth wasting my brain away. This could explain why it has received over three million views in the past three weeks. Be sure to check it out if you are looking for a little hope in the love department.
This video sparked a conversation while sitting around the dinner table yesterday. I decided to have a conversation about dating and proposals with five other UF senior girls. Each of them knew at least one person our age that has gotten engaged in the past 6 months. The question still stands: what has changed this year that so many of our friends are getting engaged? We may not know the answers but they did know the best places in Gainesville to find a date, which is a first step toward a proposal.
