Sometimes, I hate love.
There I said it. I know it’s bad, but on occasion, I really do hate it. Actually, since I’m being honest, sometimes, I despise love.
It makes me and others I know do stupid things. It angers me. Love is illogical 99 percent of the time. (And illogical things really bother me.) It’s like alcohol, except you don’t even know you’re intoxicated a lot of the time. Scary.
It can ruin lives. Cue all of my lady friends that have thrown away all their hopes and dreams for a guy, and all the men out there who’ve spent ridiculous amounts of money on shallow gifts and gestures trying to get the gal of their fancy.
I think we can all agree that love can just be really stupid and dumb a fair amount of the time. And with all the gushy love songs out there, it can be hard to turn on the radio or listen to your iTunes library during times like these without hating life.
So here’s a playlist when love is infuriating, and you just want to keep hating it.
Some are thoughtful songs about being happy on your own; others are songs that you can just shout along to in your room.
1. Robin Sparkles (Daggers) – “P.S. I Love You”
2. Taylor Swift – “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together”
3. Madonna – “You’ll See”
4. J. Geils Band – “Love Stinks”
5. Soft Cell – “Tainted Love”
