You can now exhale a sigh of relief. The weekend is here! After a busy week of school or work, and maybe even both, all that’s left to do is have fun. Now, I know what some of you may be thinking. Gator football has a bye week and this weekend may not have all of the tailgating shenanigans like last weekend, but have no fear. There are plenty of other happenings in Gainesville to make up for the lack of football.
Tonight, Childish Gambino, a hip hop and rap artist, and Hoodie Allen, a “hoodie-hop” artist, will be performing for free at Flavet Field at 7 p.m. Click here to find out more.
If that’s not your thing, stop by Cabana Beach for another of their notorious pool parties – NIGHT GLO – at 7 p.m. (free food, drinks and glow sticks…need more reason to go?) Check out their Facebook page for more details!
Tomorrow starts the month-long Octoberfest Fall Festival at Roger’s Farm. Some of the things Roger’s Farm offers are hay rides, giant slides and swings and petting zoo. It could be something different to do before going out tomorrow that will get you in the fall spirit. Octoberfest begins at 8 p.m. and goes until midnight.
On Sunday, the Gainesville Pride Festival and Parade will take place in the downtown Community Plaza. Enjoy live music while you shop from vendors and food vendors. The parade is free and will begin at noon. If none of those events appeal to you, then just go to midtown, sip on a beer if you’re legal and enjoy the weekend. Cheers!
