After a long day at work or classes, all most people can think about is going home and relaxing. One of my favorite ways to do this is with essential oils. Using essential oils is a nice way of having an inexpensive spa night in the luxury of your own home!
Orange essential oils work to increase your energy and boost your mood. The refreshing and revitalizing smell reminds me of sitting on the beach in the middle of summer but also of a kitchen during Christmas at the same time. Either way, what’s not to love?
Eucalyptus is great for a multitude of things. It can ease colds, coughs and open up sinuses. As someone who suffers from congestion due to allergies (thanks Florida), eucalyptus is a lifesaver! It also helps to alleviate joint pain and treat cold sores.
Peppermint is great year-round, not just at Christmas. During the day, peppermint is my go-to. It helps to boost energy, is amazing for relaxing muscles through a tingling sensation and helps open sinuses. It pretty much does it all!
Pro tip: If you are congested or feel a cold coming on, take a hot shower with some peppermint oil. Not only does it feel great, but the steam and oil combined helps to combat your ailments.
Lavender is my favorite oil. Since it has calming qualities, I utilize it at night. My bedside table has a plethora of lavender facial sprays, pillow mists and other lavender scented goodies. At the end of the day, who doesn’t love a good night’s sleep?
The next time you’re in need of a pick-me-up, or even if you want to treat yourself, try some essential oils! Not only do they smell good, but they’re good for you and your happiness.
