This week’s Band of the Week is the Los Angeles based reggae/soul group, The Aggrolites. The band will be performing at High Dive on Feb. 26. The doors will open at 8 p.m., and the show is scheduled to begin at 8:30 p.m. Banditos, Mighty Mongo and The Partials will also be performing, and DJ Professor Nappy Knots will be spinning between sets. Tickets are $10; there is a $2 fee at the door for anyone under 21.
The band is comprised of Jesse Wagner (vocals, lead guitar), Roger Rivas (organ), Jeff Roffredo (bass) and Alex Mckenzie (drums).
On their Facebook page, The Aggrolites define themselves as “more than a band… [but] a movement.” They carry a self-made banner with them that reads “Dirty Reggae,” which represents “their signature fusion of reggae, soul, grit and determination.”
Their sound could be described as “feel good”- the type of music one would listen to while lying on the beach. With upbeat tempos and catchy lyrics, this band is the perfect one to see before Spring Break, assured to get you in the mood to spend hours soaking up the sun.
With 8 years of touring the globe and 5 full-length albums to their name, the band is no stranger to the music scene. They’ve toured with bands like Social Distortion and Flogging Molly, as well as made appearances at events like Vans Warped Tour and Coachella. Their music has been featured on TV shows like NBC’s Friday Night Lights and in movies like Summit Entertainment’s “50/50.”
With such a resumé, The Aggrolites is sure to deliver an entertaining show. Don’t miss the chance to see this influential band!
