Band of the Week: Kingsfoil

The band will perform tomorrow at High Dive

by Autumn Barker

This week’s Band of the Week is an indie pop rock band called Kingsfoil. The band, from central Pennsylvania, is comprised of front man Jordan Davis, Tristan Martin (guitar, keys), Tim Warren (bass) and former Malcolm in the Middle star Frankie Muniz (drums).

Kingsfoil will be performing at High Dive on Feb. 6. The doors will open at 8 p.m., and the show is projected to start at 8:25 p.m. Kingsfoil will be preceded by Yo, Banana Boy! and Leela & the Rams.

Entering the music scene in 2007 with the release of their debut extended play “Bear in the Attic  ,” the band has since toured with artists like We The Kings, Lovedrug  , Chiddy Bang, and Anberlin .
In the summer of 2010, Kingsfoil self-released their long play “On Our Own Together.” The band’s sound is comparable to bands like Augustana and the Fray, with songs like “What Your Mother Taught You” and “Grapevine Valentine,” highlighting Davis’ smooth vocals and his bandmates’ creative arrangements. Catchy choruses and insightful lyrics characterize their songs, supported by masterfully arranged backing tracks.  On their Facebook page , Kingsfoil describe themselves by saying, “If Kingsfoil was a candy we would be sweet and tasty but wouldn’t harm your teeth…so you could enjoy us as much as you wanted.” This playfulness is translated in their music, making for an enjoyable experience for their listeners.

Intro to the Blogger: Autumn Barker

Hey guys. I’m Autumn! I’m a third-year English major with a minor in German. My passion lies in every aspect of music—from writing to discovering new artists. I’m currently interning with local concert promoter Glory Days Presents!, from which I will be gathering the majority of my material. Just some random fun facts about me: I love long walks on the beach, rainy weather, photography and the color purple. I’m planning on moving to London, England after I graduate. My focus for the blog each week will be on a review of an out-of-town band that will be performing in Gainesville in the upcoming few days.
