5 Spooky Series to Stream ASAP to Get You in the Halloween Mood

By: Carolina Watlington

Halloween is right around the corner and it’s time to get spooky. But you don’t need to scare yourself to death with horror movies to prepare for the 31st. Here are 5 tame, but spooky shows to binge-watch to get you in the Halloween spirit.

1. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

You may have seen the early 2000s comedy Sabrina the Teenage Witch, but this is not the Sabrina you remember. Sabrina, Harvey, Aunt Hilda, Aunt Zelda and even Salem are back in this spine-chilling Netflix original reboot by the creators of Riverdale. In this version, Sabrina constantly struggles with her dual nature as a half-witch, half-mortal, all while struggling to survive when it feels like everyone is after her –– and you thought being a teenager was hard. Stream it now on Netflix.

2. Lucifer

If your ‘Recently Watched’ consists of police, detective and crime dramas, you’ll love this show about the devil himself retiring from Hell and becoming a civilian consultant to the LAPD. The drama is guaranteed to make you laugh, but you might have his devil face burned into the back of your head for a few days. Stream it now on Netflix.

3. Stranger Things

Okay so if you haven’t heard of Stranger Things you’ve probably been living under a rock. But if you haven’t binged it yet, now is officially the time to do it. The third season that premiered on July 4th is by far the funniest and most gruesome yet. This is definitely a must-watch for 80s fanatics. Stream it now on Netflix.

4. Scream Queens (Season 1 Only)

The creators of Glee and American Horror Story basically made a combination of their two shows to create this comedy about a serial killer roaming a college campus. You’ll see some of Hollywood’s biggest stars, including Nick Jonas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Ariana Grande and more facing off the killer in this homage to the horror classics. But do yourself a favor and skip Season 2. Stream it now on Hulu.

5. Santa Clarita Diet

Drew Barrymore stars in this horror-comedy about a suburban real-estate agent who one day experiences a sudden change in diet –– making the switch from quinoa to human flesh. Her and her family have to adjust to her new life as a zombie (but a pretty zombie) and keep the situation under wraps. Stream it now on Netflix.
